A part of a crossfunctional team
The team consisted of three backend developers, one frontend developer, a Product Owner and a Business Analyst. I got to be a part of the team as Business Analyst and primary UX Designer. We were about to figure out how the new product should look. As the development of the new reimbursement system is covered by a confidentiality agreement, I am not allowed to tell much about it.
Deep dive into the process of continuous discovery
Throughout the development process, I closely collaborated with both backend and frontend developers. As a Business Analyst, I worked directly with a backend developer during software testing to ensure our solutions met the required standards.
As a UX designer, I maintained a close partnership with the frontend developer, regularly providing him with mock-ups and wireframes. We held recurring meetings and workshops where we got user feedback from customers and users throughout the development process. As our product neared industrialization, we conducted usability tests to refine details like buttons, labels, and other user interface elements. Our product development was driven by business requirements, legal considerations, and continuous user feedback.

User research
During the development of the reimbursement system we involved customers and the users in different ways. We had some recurring meetings with the customers and a few times we had usability tests or interviews with the users.

Usability test and interview
For a usability test with users I prepared an interviewguide with tasks that were scenariobased.

I chose to create task based on scenarios as these mock-ups here are quite new to the users. The scenarios guided the user into a situation close to their reality. As this system should work as a working tool it was important to get them to think as they would at work instead of thinking that this interface does not look like something they have seen before.
Reflections
As a UX-designer I had have some really good circumstances to provide real value but the digital maturity of the company in general were not on a high level. In my role, I have tried to push the boundaries and challenge the way of thinking the solutions.
